Putnam County Sheriff Robert Langley, Jr., announced that shortly after 12:45 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 12, a deputy stopped the driver of a pick-up truck who was committing multiple vehicle and traffic violations while driving on Sodom Lane in Southeast.
After crossing the double yellow line, the driver - Danbury resident Bruce Staszewski - proceeded to blow through a stop sign without stopping, prompting a traffic stop.
According to Langley, during the stop, it was determined that Staszewski was allegedly intoxicated, and an open bottle of Vodka and a jar of alleged marijuana were recovered from the vehicle.
A breathalyzer determined that Staszewski had a blood alcohol content over .18 percent - more than double the legal limit. He was arrested without incident and charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, driving while intoxicated, unlawful possession of marijuana and cited for multiple traffic violations.
Langley said that Staszewski was processed and booked at the Putnam County Facility and issued an appearance ticket to appear in the Town of Southeast Justice Court later this year to respond to the charges.
